Hollywood Round 1
American Idol's newest judge, Ellen DeGeneres, joins Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson in Hollywood to begin winnowing down the contestants. The golden ticket contenders chosen from around the nation will endure a grueling rehearsal schedule and pressure-packed auditions as they vie for a coveted spot among the Top 24. The judges make their final cuts tonight, and this season's semifinalists - 12 boys and 12 girls - are revealed tonight.
Top 12 Girls Perform
The Top 12 female semifinalists take the American Idol stage for the first time to perform live for the judges and for the nation. On this season's first night of voting, the contestants will sing their hearts out in hopes of winning America's vote and surviving another week in the competition.
