Overview
Each Challenge pits numerous cast members from past seasons of reality shows against each other, dividing them into two separate teams according to different criteria, such as gender, which show they first appeared on, whether or not they're veterans or rookies on the show, etc. The two teams compete in numerous missions in order to win prizes and advance in the overall game.

The Duel
The Duel is the 13th season of the MTV reality game show, The Challenge. The season is directly subsequent to Fresh Meat. The Duel took place in Búzios, Brazil, with former cast members from MTV series The Real World and Road Rules competing, along with several cast members from the previous Challenge, Fresh Meat. The host of The Duel was T. J. Lavin. The season differed from previous Challenge seasons in that no teams were assigned, as it was every man and woman for themselves. The surviving male and female cast member would win $150,000 each. The season was watched by a total of 83 million viewers. The Duel premiered on October 12, 2006, and concluded on January 18, 2007. This is the first edition of The Duel series, with The Duel II following in 2009.

This season, 10 men and 10 women make the trek for Brazil for Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Duel". Their goal: fight to win not only the grand prize, but the respect that goes hand-in-hand with the title of "Challenge" winner.
The First Female Duel
The next event (a female Duel Day), places the 19 remaining in a waist-deep mud pit, swimming and wading through murky water in the Ring Toss event.
Goodbye Tina and Tyler
Beth and Tina face-off, and after having thrown a punch that cut Beth, Tina is sent packing.
Paula vs. Aneesa
Aneesa feels the pain when she realizes that she cannot trust anyone in this game.
The Drama Mafia
In another amazingly physical challenge, the guys face against the guys, and the girls face off against one another in Push Over", where the last man standing wins safety.

Romantic sparks fly between CT and Diem (who continues to be supported by the Drama Mafia).

Evan becomes paranoid that he's the one who will be sent into the Duel.
What Goes Around, Comes Around
The once symbiotic alliance between Beth and Svetlana is severed when Brad accuses them both of being back-stabbers and pot-stirrers.

It's Diem's birthday and the cast celebrates by having another mission - this time involving greased-up poles and slip 'n' slides across the beaches.

After a hard night of drinking, Robin decides to question everything about Aneesa's identity, including her race and sexual orientation.

As we get down to the final five guys, Brad and Eric discuss strategy while Evan and Wes hope to get Eric to take CT out of the competition.
